This project is located in Miami Township in northwestern Clermont County. The project to improve Wolfpen Pleasant Hill Road begins at approximately the intersection of Allen Drive and extends southward to approximately the intersection of State Route (SR) 131.
Preliminary engineering and environmental investigations are underway for these improvements. Wolfpen Pleasant Hill has experienced a significant traffic increase following the construction of By-Pass 28. The improvements are intended to enhance safety, reduce congestion and improve access to Schools and residential property in the area. The project will include curbed cross section with closed storm drainage and sidewalk. The estimated construction cost is $3,500,000.
Potential improvements to be considered include:
- Widening to three lanes in order to provide for a center left turn lane. This removes left-turning vehicles from the through lane, which allows for smoother flow of through traffic and eliminates conflicts between through traffic and left-turning vehicles.
- Addition of a southbound right-turn lane into the Jr. High and High School driveways to allow school buses to pull out of through traffic as they are slowing down to turn.
- Improvements to the intersections along the road, including Allen Drive, Berdova Drive, Deblin Drive, and SR 131 to insure adequate sight distances, lanes and turning radii.
- The study of traffic signal warrants to see if any additional traffic signals are necessary.
- Improvements to the curve in Wolfpen Pleasant Hill Road at Berdova Drive that would increase sight distance.
- Smoothing out hills and dips in the vertical alignment of the roadway, thereby providing better sight distance.
- Addition of a sidewalk on at least one side of the road along with adequate pedestrian crossing areas.
- Consideration of a bicycle lane or path.
Input obtained from early public involvement will combine with preliminary engineering and environmental study in the development of further details of the project that will again be presented to the public.
