Strategic Initiatives

Economic Prosperity

Our economic prosperity depends on people, goods, and services being in the right place at the right time, efficiently, effectively, safely and securely. Strategic thinking, joint planning and leveraged resources are important in successfully implementing our strategies.

By focusing on attracting new investment in our transportation corridor development, expanding transportation systems capacity, reconfiguring our existing transportation facilities, CCTID is working to develop active solutions that reduce road congestion and traffic delays that impede access to air, rail and port activities and improve our economic competitiveness.

Strategies for Economic Competitiveness

Our strategies can be grouped into four general categories:

  • New Types of Organizational Arrangements. These include cooperative arrangements involving ODOT and USDOT, as well as public-private partnerships. These new arrangements will clear the way for integrated planning, funding, construction and operation of enhanced access to trade corridors that support our long-term access to jobs and economic investment.
  • New Approach to Intermodal Transportation. This involves developing new intermodal freight movement infrastructure (truck and rail freight system development), to facilitate improved access to advance logistics connections for ground, rail, water ports and air cargo movements to position Clermont County as the preferred places for businesses to locate and grow.
  • Expanded Infrastructure Systems. This involves business and government coordination in developing and implementing expanded infrastructure to ensure that Clermont County can remain economically competitive by developing appropriate solutions for handling growth and change in the nature of the global economy.
  • Economic Redevelopment. This involves looking at the opportunities for transportation and other important public infrastructure investments that attract new private investment into redevelopment and expansion of the important economic and employment centers in Clermont County. Opportunities are identified utilizing a market-based approach to make smart, informed, decisions that will be supported by the market, and encourage economic development and future investment in Clermont County communities.

Market-Based Strategy

To develop strategies that will not only address the needs of today, but for many years to come, CCTID realizes that it is necessary to understand the market and its potential movement in the future. By making smart, informed, market-based decisions, we can develop strategies that will allow Clermont County to maintain its economic competitiveness and ensure future economic vitality and investment in its communities.
